Life Lessons with Dad

Welcome to “Life Lessons with Dad”!  I am a father of 6 children but I am also a consultant that spends Monday through Thursday out of town nearly every week and I desperately desire to  train my children in the way they should go in the hopes that they will grow to be wise adults.

Proverbs 22:6 (NLT) Direct your children onto the right path, and when they are older, they will not leave it.

I know I need to make the most of my precious time with my children but I often sit on the plane ride Monday morning feeling like the weekend was squandered and that I did little to “raise” them.  Spending time with my kids is great but I don’t just want to be their friend, I want to be their father.  I believe an important aspect of parenting is proactively, intentionally passing on what you have learned in your life so that your children might avoid some poor choices and so that they can learn from your experiences instead of through ignorant trial and error on their own.

My goal with “Life Lessons with Dad” is three fold:

  1. To motivate myself to organize my thoughts and to become more intentional in how I instruct my children
  2. To provide a record of my “lessons” for my children so that someday they can reference (and improve) these lessons as they share them with their own children.
  3. To collaborate with a wide community of parents, that we might learn from each other and bless our children by becoming more purposeful in day to day parenting.

Please participate in this journey with me by suggesting lessons, sharing content (legally), and providing me honest feedback on how I might improve my “daddy skills”.   May God be glorified by this blog, by our discussions, and by the next generation of children we raise and send out into the world.

Blessings, Anthony
